Pereira takes the reins at GOL

Leonardo Pereira has become chief financial officer and executive vice president at Brazilian low cost carrier GOL. He draws on diverse experience including media and commercial forestry as he returns to aviation.

Brazil’s GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes has appointed Leonardo Pereira as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Pereira joins the airline after a varied career which has taken in corporate finance, cable television and airline privatisation. Pereira replaces Richard Lark and took up the position in February.

Pereira says that he is settling into his new position, having just released the company’s results for the fourth quarter of 2008. GOL made an operating profit of about R$60 million ($24 million), up on the same period in 2007, but a net loss of almost R$690 million, down from a R$6.5 million loss in 2007.
